What is Software-as-a-Service (SaaS)? |
SaaS is software owned, delivered, and managed remotely by McAfee. McAfee provides Internet access to the application, as well as maintenance and upgrade services.
The infrastructure and IT operations supporting the applications are also provided by McAfee. In a manner of speaking, SaaS applications are leased, rather than purchased, and they’re managed completely by the customer that “leases” them.
This approach contrasts with the traditional, on-premises model, in which the customer purchasing software is responsible for installing it, as well as maintaining and upgrading it. |

What is McAfee Global Threat Intelligence, and why is it important? |
In essence, the Global Threat Intelligence service is an automatic warning system, which updates all McAfee software automatically, so you are protected from the very latest, unknown, zero hour threats immediately.
With 100 million+ endpoints running McAfee software, and all analysing suspicious behaviour, GTI is an early warning system.
For example, a dangerous website is put live in China, McAfee Global Threat Intelligence (GTI) software notices the anomalous behavior and predictively adjusts the website’s reputation. All McAfee security products across the world are updated with this information in seconds, and all Mcafee solutions will automatically block access to this site, and protect customers. |

What are the system requirements for McAfee SaaS Email Suite? |
McAfee SaaS Email Security suites are truly a security service that resides outside your network, requiring no additional hardware, software or personnel resources to manage daily security operations. It is compatible with any mail system.
You will require:
* A unique email domain name, such as yourdomain.com
* A mail server (hosted or on-premise) with a static IP address. By simply redirecting the mail exchange (MX) record through the McAfee servers, mail traffic will be scanned quickly and easily - before entering or leaving your network. |
Wont an MX Record change affect my email flow? |
No. Changing an MX record will not affect your email flow which will continue as normal during a short transition to the McAfee SaaS Service.
We recommend you create a new MX Record with a higher priority than your existing mail server.
In the event that you decide not to continue with the service, you can simply remove this MX record. |
What are the system requirements for McAfee SaaS Web Filtering System? |
None. Simply redirect your web traffic (proxy settings) through the service. Instructions are provided, however on a network this can be achieved via Group Policy or other automatic deployment method. |
Does the McAfee SaaS Web Filtering System work with mobile devices? |
Yes, on your iPhone, iPad, Android or other mobile device simply redirect your web browsing (proxy) traffic through the service. |
